The New York Adjustable Swivel Stool

New York is Connubia at its most grown-up: an icon of enveloping lines on a slender metal structure, with an upholstered seat and back that wrap around you. The CB1088 swivel stool is the version we're most excited about, and the most luxurious piece in the entire Quick Ship program.

It sits on a chromed column with a gas lift, so the seat travels from counter height at 26 inches to bar height at 31.5 inches, and it swivels. Overall height moves between 38.25 and 43.375 inches, and the footprint is a compact 22.5 by 20.875 inches. It's stocked in Esprit soft leather, made from the finest part of European ox hide and finished with water-based colors, in Black (683), Optic White (705) and Taupe (D04). It's the stool to put at a kitchen island when you want the island to look like a bar in a very good hotel.

Prefer a fixed height? The CB1087 keeps the same silhouette on a sled base in Matt Lava with Vintage faux leather in Desert, at a 25.625-inch seat height. It is leaving the stocked program, so it now ships from Italy on roughly a 12-week lead time. Space-Saving Magic-J and Mascotte Tables

Academy - Durable and Comfortable

Academy is the broadest family in the collection: polypropylene or upholstered shells on wood, metal or aluminum bases, in chairs, armchairs, counter stools and adjustable swivel stools. The CB1665 pairs a matte shell with beech or ash legs; the CB1663 puts it on slim metal. The CB2159 swaps the shell for transparent smoke grey polycarbonate, which all but disappears around a small table. Stools run from the CB1674 on a chromed sled to the CB2326 with a gas lift and ballast base that adjusts from 25.5 to 32 inches.

Several Academy models, and the Abby chair and armchair, are made from 100% recycled polypropylene using air-moulding technology, with interchangeable heavy-duty PE feet. Practically speaking, that means a chair you can hose off, stack and re-foot years later instead of replacing.

Tuka and Tuka Mid - Soft and Sculptural

Tuka is the upholstered shell chair: rounded, comfortable and easy to live with. Tuka Mid evolves it with a taller, more enveloping backrest for better support at long dinners, and Tuka Mid Hole adds a cut-out detail that lightens the silhouette. Eide brings warmth back with a solid beech frame in Smoke, Graphite or Walnut. And the NY Anniversary chair revisits the New York silhouette in Harry faux leather on a sled base.

Connubia Quick Ship Tables

Gemini is the newest and the most sculptural: a base of crossed, curved sheet metal that reads almost like folded ribbon, carrying ceramic, glass stone or tempered glass. It comes as a 63-inch rectangle that opens to 94.5, a 78.75-inch that opens to 118, and barrel-shaped versions including a bronze glass edition. Both extensions open independently, so you can add half a table when you only need half.

Orion uses a fluid curved sheet metal base and comes round, rectangular or barrel-shaped. Ellisse rests on an elliptical painted steel base, with a new 78.75-inch extending version in GMA Limestone glass stone. Band is the quiet problem-solver: its frame extends with the top so the legs always stay at the corners, with an assisted opening mechanism.

For smaller rooms, the Eminence extends from 51 or 63 inches with one or two leaves, and the Eminence Console performs the collection's best trick: a 19.75-inch console that opens to 118 inches with five leaves, which store in their own containers. The console is made to order in Italy rather than stocked. If you prefer fixed, the Dix and Planet offer round tops on sculptural central bases, and the Pod pairs wooden legs with clear or smoked tempered glass.

Connubia Finish Options

Because Connubia and Calligaris are made by the same company, many finishes carry across, and the ceramic tops are built the same way: porcelain stoneware fired at 1200°C and bonded to glass, non-porous, and resistant to scratches, stains, heat and chemicals. Ceramic Tabletops

The two glossy ceramics are polished to bring out the veining. P2C White Marble is the crisp classic you'll also find on Calligaris tables; P39C Diamond Cream is warmer and softer, a creamy stone with gentle movement.

The matte ceramics are where Connubia goes its own way. P24C Arenaria and P34C Arenaria Brown reproduce sandstone in cool grey and warm taupe. P33C Noir Désir is pure drama, with gold veins running across near-black stone. P40C Naturalis is the surprise: a ceramic that reads convincingly as oak, giving you the look of a wood table with the durability of porcelain. P5C Salt White, P321 Lead Grey and P6C Oxide Black are the quiet, cement-like solids.

Glass Stone and Glass

Glass stone is worth knowing about. It's tempered glass with a surface layer of ceramic glaze fired at 800°C, which gives it much of what a ceramic top offers: resistance to thermal shock, corrosion and scratches, no discoloration over time, and easy cleaning even when the surface is greasy. It comes in GMA Limestone and GMC Clay Brown, both soft and matte in a way that flatters the sculptural table bases.

For clear tops, tempered glass comes in GTR Transparent, GEW Extraclear (brighter and less green at the edges), GTG Smoke Grey and GTB Bronze, the last of which warms up a room and is the top on the Gemini SG.

Melamine and Wood

Melamine tops are decorative surfaces fused to a wood-grain panel: durable, stable and far more varied than solid wood alone. P1WW Limo and P3CW Travertino are the stone looks used on the Band and Eminence tables, P16E Walnut is the warm wood, and P11E Vulcano and P13E Clay are the two finishes offered on the Magic-J.

Solid wood and veneer frames, used on chair legs, stool bases and the Mascotte, come in six tones from pale beech to dark walnut.

Metal Frames and Colors

This is where Connubia's personality shows. Yes, there's P15 Matt Black and P94 Matt Optic White, and the mirror-bright P77 Chromed used on the New York stool. But there's also P38M Matt Lava, a deep olive-brown that has quietly become the brand's signature, plus P151 Matt Hemp, P176 Matt Taupe, P16 Matt Grey, P33L Painted Brass, and genuine color in P3L Matt Oxide Red, P67P Matt Terracotta and P8L Matt Thyme Green.

Harry, Ekos, Vintage and Bedford are the faux leathers, all easy to wipe clean, and Esprit soft leather tops the range on the New York stool and chair.

Materials with a Conscience

Connubia's sustainability work is refreshingly concrete. Several chairs use 100% recycled polypropylene. Ops! offers a shell made from a tetrapak-type plastic derived from food packaging. Regenerated leather is built from at least 60% leather off-cuts. And the made-to-order Oceanic fabric is 100% post-consumer recycled polyester including 50% SEAQUAL yarn, made with recovered marine plastic. Caring for Connubia Pieces

Plastic and polypropylene: clean with lukewarm water and mild soap only. Avoid acetone, trichloroethylene, ammonia, ethyl alcohol, universal degreasers and abrasive products, all of which attack the surface.

Synthetic fabrics and faux leathers: clean spills promptly with a soft soapy solution and a damp white cloth. One real-world caution from the manufacturer: dyes from denim can migrate onto lighter-colored seats, and that transfer is permanent.

Ceramic, glass stone and glass: mild soap and water. Non-porous surfaces never need sealing.
