Collapsed into sleeper position, are there supports for the upright half? How does a second person stay supported on the mattress??
HERE is a side view drawing of the Dublexo showing how the frame is able to support the weight of a second person. Keep in mind at 45" wide it is really meant for one person.

Does the upper portion come off the frame? Looking to move through a tight staircase
Yes the frame is assembled separately to allow for manuevering it through a tight staircase. You'll find the assembly instructions HERE to get you a sense of each piece.
